Are you a real ‘people person’ who enjoys socialising and having a chat? Do you enjoy being in the great outdoors? Would you like to help our visitors enjoy the benefits of becoming more active whilst connecting with nature, heritage and the environment?

In this role, you would lead or assist guided sensory walks around Ferry Meadows. You would help others by creating friendships and companionships and building participants’ confidence whilst navigating Ferry Meadows.

  • Suitable for age 18 and over

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Lead groups on safe and engaging guided sensory walks throughout Ferry Meadows.
  • Share the knowledge you have learnt about Nene Park’s wildlife, landscape, habitats to connect your senses to the environment.
  • Support participants to access the park and the benefit from spending time in greenspaces.
  • Promote the Your Community Greenspace project.
  • Look after the safety and wellbeing of the group and follow all safeguarding procedures.
  • Liaise with the project officer and volunteer supervisor.
  • Sign in and keep records of attendance.

What will you need to show?

  • A willingness to undergo relevant training including first aid training and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to work closely with the project officer and volunteer supervisor.
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Time keeping and punctuality.
  • Willingness to share your previous knowledge.
  • An ability to engage with people from a multitude of backgrounds, abilities and ages.

What availability is required?

  • A range of times including weekends and school holidays, to be arranged around volunteer availability.
