We are excited to be starting off 2024 with lots of opportunities for young people to get involved in, thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, as part of our Your Community Greenspace project.

Young Rangers (11-16 year olds) 

Are you passionate about the environment around you? Would you like to have a positive impact on protecting and enhancing the environment in your local area through practical conservation tasks? Could you be a wildlife champion of the future and help create a better world?

Nene Park Rangers and Froglife staff will share their skills and knowledge whilst supporting you to carry out practical conservation tasks. Join our Saturday monthly Young Ranger sessions at Ferry Meadows and Hampton and Boardwalks Nature Reserves.

Sessions are FREE but do get in touch and book your place. The 2024 sessions are:
  • 20th January - coppicing - Ferry Meadows
  • 17th February - scrub and grassland management for amphibians and reptiles - Boardwalks
  • 16th March - Great crested newt ecology and survey training - Hampton Nature Reserve
  • 20th April - Tree mulching - Ferry Meadows
  • 18th May - Reptile ecology and survey training - Hampton Nature Reserve
  • 15th June - Woodworking - Ferry Meadows

Art Club (14-17 year olds)

Our fun monthly art workshops are a great opportunity to get creative, enjoy the outdoors and work with local artists. Art Club is for young people aged 14-17, no experience necessary and all materials are provided.

Saturdays 10am -12pm:

  • 2nd March
  • 23rd March 2024

£20 per person for 4 workshops.

    There are six sessions running on Tuesdays 4.30-6pm fortnightly from the 16th January.

    Park Ranger work experience (18-24 year olds) 

    We're working with Cross Keys Homes and Froglife to deliver a nine week work experience programme for 18-24 year olds not currently in education, training or employment. You'll get to experience all the day to day activities carried out by Park Rangers at Nene Park and Wardens at Froglife's nature reserves, all of which looks great on your CV!

    The programme starts on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 1-3.30pm and runs for nine weeks. You will be required to attend every session. Sessions take place at different venues across Peterborough and travel will be provided to and from each site.
