Devon Brooks, Chief Instructor at Nene Outdoors

Few know of the serenity that exists when you look out across Gunwade Lake in the early morning, as the dew glistens on the grass and the mist begins to lift off from the water. This beauty increases as you feel as if you are the only one experiencing this special moment. It is so peaceful and relaxing.

I have been lucky to be part of this world for several years. I am Chief Instructor at Nene Outdoors and have been involved in the watersports centre here since I was 12 years old… and even earlier too, as this is where I learned my love for watersports! Over these years I have seen so much change and grow but one thing that never changes is the natural beauty in the Park!

Another favourite part of my day here is as the sun sets and the swallows and swifts dive across the water collecting the insects for their supper. A great end to a working day!

It is now possible for others to enjoy this glimpse of one of our Park's most beautiful sights. Over the last few years we have developed two campsites located right on the edge of Gunwade Lake.

We have “The Glade” with 8 pitches that can be booked individually or all together for a group. It has a low hedge line so you can see across the lake and take in the perfect colourful sunset.

"Lakeview" has 8 pre-erected bell tents pitched on wooden decking that each sleep 6. Inside your tent your will find rush matting and LED fairy lights to create that perfect camping atmosphere.

Both campsites have a shelter, BBQ stand, fire pit, picnic benches and washing up stand - all to add to your camping experience.

It is great to be able to share one my favourite sights with you and perhaps you'll consider booking a night at our campsites to experience it for yourself.
