Growing our family groups at Ferry Meadows

We're delighted to share that our popular monthly family groups are growing in May, and relocating to the dedicated Forest School site at Lynch Farm in Ferry Meadows. Moving our family groups to Lynch Farm will give even more local children the space to learn through exploring, play and hands-on experiences in the great outdoors, whilst most importantly, having lots of fun!

Nature Tots

For our youngest adventurers, our fun Nature Tots group for toddlers and their guardians will introduce a new Friday morning session alongside its existing Monday offering. Starting on Friday 3 May, both groups will meet every second week, with sessions following a variety of exciting themes.

Children will enjoy engaging hands-on craft activities, plus plenty of time to explore the wonderful wildlife around us. Upcoming themes include Growing, Superworm, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Minibeasts.

Suitable for children age 2-5, tickets are just £5.50 each with accompanying grown-ups attending for free.

Wild Home Educators

Additionally, our Wild Home Educators group, designed for home schooled children and their families, is growing to accommodate older children. Starting in May, Forest School sessions for younger children age 5-11 will continue on a Monday afternoon, while sessions for children age 11-14 will launch on Friday afternoons.

Both groups will meet bi-weekly, with inspiring themes and activities changing monthly. Sessions cover a wide range of topics such as tool use skills, wildlife identification, outdoor survival skills and sensory exploration. Operating a flexible approach, children are actively encouraged to take the lead while also having the option to take breaks as needed.

Places are £7.50 per child, with free places for accompanying grown-ups.

Our family groups are led by experienced members of the Nene Park Trust education team, who are passionate about nature-inspired learning experiences.

Ferry Meadows is the ideal place for a family day out and one of the largest country parks in the region. Situated less than three miles from Peterborough city centre, at the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it the favourite destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.
Water Pay & Play Activities

At Nene Outdoors, we run a ‘Pay and Play’ scheme, providing visitors of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to enjoy the watersports we have on offer. Book for half hour sessions on line or for one hour, book two consecutive time slots, hire our equipment and use our facilities.

Enjoy a relaxing boat trip around Overton Lake on 'Wyndham', our new electrically powered passenger boat, and discover more about our new passenger cruises and private hire services.

Nene Park is a great place to play. Games on the meadows, adventures in the woodlands and three great play areas within Ferry Meadows to cater for all ages.
