We are very pleased to have been awarded £35,000 for a Changing Places toilet facility at Ferry Meadows, one of two Changing Places toilets being created in Peterborough, with funding from Peterborough City Council, as part of The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Changing Places Fund.

The new Changing Places facility in Ferry Meadows will be part of the improvements being carried out over the next few years to the Welcome area at the entrance to the Park, as part of Your Community Greenspace project. Our plans are to create a more engaging and positive first impression for our visitors. We will install new information and wayfinding displays alongside a central feature tree and refreshed seating, as well as biodiversity rich planting. The visitor arrival will be improved with realigned footpaths guiding visitors more clearly and positively into the Park. The existing toilet block will be refurbished, with improved accessible facilities including the new Changing Places facility. This work will help to make the Park more welcoming and accessible for all.

A Changing Places toilet is larger than a standard accessible toilet and has an adult size changing mat and a hoist. We know from consulting a wide range of user groups and local community leaders as well as our own Nene Park Access Forum, that the introduction of a Changing Places facility will make a huge difference to a large number of our visitors, make the Park more welcoming and greatly enhance accessibility for our local communities.
