We have recently celebrated ten years of volunteering at Nene Park. On 5th October 2011 the first volunteering conservation session took place with just a handful of volunteers. Ten years later, we now have over 130 volunteers in 17 roles across all areas of Nene Park. These roles include conservation, wildlife surveys, firewood, Farm Shop, photography and supporting with events and education activities. The volunteers form a key part of our team at Nene Park Trust and do incredible work in helping to maintain the Park, welcome our visitors and support with our wider work.

On Friday 19th November 2021 we held a celebration day for our volunteers at Lakeside in Ferry Meadows. The volunteers have recently taken part in making a short film about volunteering at Nene Park and they had the opportunity to come and watch the film together, whilst enjoying a piece of cake. They also took part in guided walks in the Park looking at the many and varied projects volunteers have undertaken over the past 10 years. These projects include building the Bluebell Wood Boardwalk, Ham Mere restoration, creating the willow tunnel and setting up of the Lakeside Farm Shop earlier this year.

We are very grateful to all of our volunteers, past and present, and can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring!
