Supporting Nene Park Trust's Biodiversity and Green Projects by swimming 93 miles to represent the 930 hectares managed by the charity

Hi - my name's Shân and I am participating in this challenge because I want to raise money for Nene Park Trust to protect green-spaces across Peterborough and ensure that through safeguarding these they will continue to contribute to increasing biodiversity and addressing climate change - key targets Nene Park Trust as a charity are committed to achieving.

I also want to highlight and share the benefits of swimming and the beautiful, uplifting outdoor facilities we have to do this in Peterborough , I hope to encourage others to take a dip, explore open water swimming at Ferry Meadows or in our iconic Peterborough Lido . Thankyou for reading and for any contributions, which will go towards ensuring a greener and more biodiverse environment in Peterborough.

Success!

Congratulations Shân! 🎉
We're so so proud of our very own Fundraising officer Shan Barcroft for completing her 93-mile swim challenge this weekend - all to raise money for Nene Park Trust!
The final miles were swam in Brighton - not in the sea as planned (due to weather and water conditions) but in the Brighton Lido - a fitting link to her many miles swum in the Peterborough Lido.
Donations are still pouring in with the current total at £1,324, which is absolutely phenomenal.
Thank you Shân for setting yourself this challenge, raising this huge amount for Nene Park Trust and for raising awareness of the importance of looking after our precious green - and blue - spaces. Money raised will go towards the Trust's work to increase biodiversity and improve our spaces for our visitors and wildlife.

September Update

A big THANKYOU for all my friends, families and anonymous donors who have allowed me to reach my fundraising  target. To ensure greatest impact  please continue to donate as I do my final swim between Brighton piers this weekend.

Looking forward to sharing this with you and a fantastic finale to raise funds for and highlight local green and blue spaces.  Thankyou!

July Update

I have been a bit quiet recently but I have reached 74 miles in my 93 mile swimming challenge to raise funds for Nene Park Trust and the greenspaces across Peterborough. Lucky to be with my wonderful ladies at Peterborough Lido. Plans for my final swim have been pushed back a bit but I will be swimming between Brighton Pier and the old burnt down pier in September to complete my challenge

June Update

Thank you everyone for all your donations so far.  It is spurring me on and I am thinking of the lovely times I’ve shared with you, my generous sponsors, as I go…….. including wondering who my kind anonymous donors are!

I am doing well and have now completed 25 miles in blue water around Peterborough.  I am planning that I will complete my challenge at the beginning of August with a swim round Brighton Pier.

Thankyou for continuing to sponsor me and for coming with me on this journey.  Love Shan
