New planting in our Welcome Area

A couple of weeks ago our staff and volunteers were hard at work planting biodiversity-rich flowers and shrubs in our new Welcome Area flower beds, thanks to generous funding from The Finnis Scott Foundation.

We were awarded £5,980 to go towards planting in this area which will bring joy and colour to our visitors as they arrive, add to their sensory enjoyment with a range of colours, textures and scents and also provide habitats for bees, bugs and butterflies. We are so grateful for the support of The Finnis Scott Foundation for enabling this new planting to happen. The funding extends to additional planting in the autumn of flowering bulbs that will come up next spring, further improving the colour and variety of the beds.

The Finnis Scott Foundation supports a range of charity endeavours particularly focusing on horticulture and the arts. Established in 2008, the Foundation commemorates Sir David Montagu Douglas Scott, KCMG, OBE (1887-1986), his wife Valerie Finnis, VMH (1924-2006), and their love of art collecting and gardening.
