Step Into the Story of Longthorpe Tower – the surviving part of a 14th-century fortified manor house, full of charm and history. Inside, you’ll discover one of the most remarkable collections of medieval wall paintings in Western Europe, offering a rare and fascinating glimpse into life and ideas from centuries ago.
Our friendly and knowledgeable volunteer guides are at the heart of every visit. They love sharing the Tower’s stories and will help bring its history and artwork to life in an engaging and accessible way.
Guided tours are available on most Saturdays and Sundays from 28 March to 1 November 2026.

During your visit, you can also pick up a beautifully illustrated guidebook for just £3.50, a lovely memento to take home and enjoy.
Tours are pre-booked, so we recommend booking ahead to make sure you don’t miss out.
As the Tower is almost exclusively run by volunteers, we encourage you to book in advance so we are aware of how many people to expect.
On days with no or low bookings, we may change the opening hours to respect our volunteers time, and so we cannot guarantee the Tower will be open if you don’t book first.
Longthorpe Tower doesn’t have it’s own car park, however St Botolph’s Church has kindly offered spaces for visitors of Longthorpe Tower.
You can find these spaces a short distance up the road on Woburn Close.

Unfortunately the Tower is not wheelchair accessible.
The Tower also features one original staircase up the second floor which people with reduced mobility may struggle with.
The majority of the tour takes place on the first floor. The stairs to get there are more modern and have railings either side. There is a steep step upon entering the Tower.
