May Half Term Adventures

Get ready for a jam-packed May half term at Ferry Meadows! Full of outdoor adventures, holiday clubs and family activities – there’s something for everyone to enjoy from Saturday 23 May to Sunday 31 May.

Activities on every day

Acorn Explorers Holiday Club: A nature-based holiday club at Lynch Farm open 26 – 29 May for kids aged 5-8. Non-stop activities and creative outdoor fun. Click here to find out more.

Oak Adventurers Holiday Club: An exciting multi-activity holiday club open 26 – 29  May at Nene Outdoors, perfect for kids aged 8-13. Action-packed fun awaits! Click here to find out more. 

Watersports at Nene Outdoors: Open daily between 11am and 5pm, choose from dragon and swan pedalos, row boats, stand up paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. Book online to avoid the queues.

Hire a bike at Nene Outdoors: The perfect way to explore the Park! Available daily from 10.30am to 5pm, choose from a range of styles and sizes, including e-bikes, plus helmets come free with every hire. Book here.

Daily Boat Trips: Enjoy a lake and river cruise on our electrically-powered passenger boat and see what wildlife you can spot! These 45-minute trips depart daily from the Visitor Centre Jetty. Suitable for all ages, wheelchair spaces are available and dogs are welcome too! Book your trip.

Complete the Holiday Trail: Pick up a trail sheet from the Visitor Centre for £1 between 10am and 4pm and answer the questions as explore the Park. Return to the Visitor Centre and claim your prize to grow at home.

Book a camping trip: Camp under the stars by Gunwade Lake in our cosy bell tents or at our scenic pitch-only site. Perfect for families, our campsites are nestled in the heart of Ferry Meadows, offering easy access to all the exciting activities at Nene Outdoors. Find out more

FREE Crafts at the Visitor Centre: Join us at our activity table to enjoy some crafty activities.

Pop Up Fun Park: Our friends from the Ferry Meadows Miniature Railway are hosting a pop-up fun park this week near the Visitor Centre, enjoy flexible family fun with a great Super Saver offer available! Find out more.

Ride the Ferry Meadows Railway: Sit back and enjoy the ride! Running daily, weather permitting.


Events by date

Youth RYA Sailing – Stage 1 – Tuesday 26 & Wednesday 27 May
This two day beginners course will take you through the basics of dinghy sailing, getting you to a standard where you are able to enjoy the freedom of sailing! All safety equipment, including wetsuits and buoyancy aids are provided. Suitable for 8-15 year olds.

Indoor Archery – Wednesday 27 May
Take aim and unleash your inner Robin Hood or Maid Marian at Nene Outdoors. Sessions are suitable for age 8 and over. 

Pottery Painting Family Workshop – Wednesday 27 May
Unleash your creativity in this hands-on pottery painting workshop! Choose from a variety of pre-made pottery pieces and spend a couple of hours decorating them with your own designs. 

Youth RYA Sailing – Stage 2 – Thursday 28 & Friday 29 May
Learn how to sail in more depth on this two day course, which teaches a range of sailing skills and knowledge to help young people become confident sailors. All safety equipment, including wetsuits and buoyancy aids are provided. Suitable for 8-15 year olds.

Climbing Wall – Friday 29 May
The climbing wall will be back at Nene Outdoors, great fun for both adults and children age 4 and over. Who will reach the top first? Sessions are suitable for ages 4 and over. 

Visit Longthorpe Tower – Most Weekends
Have you found Peterborough’s hidden treasure yet? Step inside Longthorpe Tower and be wowed by its incredible Medieval wall paintings, some of the best you’ll see in western Europe. Join our friendly volunteers for a fascinating tour and uncover the stories behind this historic gem.
