Get involved with our community art project!
Wild About Cambridgeshire is an exciting new free, family-friendly event coming to Ferry Meadows on Sunday 13 September, featuring wildlife organisations and experts, hands-on activities, live demonstrations and food vendors – celebrating nature, community and simple ways to support local biodiversity.
As part of the event, Nene Park Trust is inviting local community groups, schools, charities, clubs and organisations to take part in a brand-new community art project. Project entries will be displayed at the festival for visitors to enjoy and vote for their favourite, with a prize for the winner!
Introducing Wild Wagons!
Your challenge is to transform a simple wagon into a creative display that is wildlife and nature-friendly. Think of your wagon as a mini mobile habitat, packed with imagination and a message that inspires people to help nature thrive.

Your Wild Wagon could feature:
- Pollinator-friendly planting for bees and butterflies
- Hedgehog highways and wildlife shelters
- Rainwater collection and water conservation ideas
- Native wildflowers and biodiversity projects
- Insect hotels and bug habitats
- Tree planting, rewilding or community greening initiatives
- Sustainable living and environmental action
The aim is to create something eye-catching, educational and fun that helps visitors understand how small actions can make a big difference for wildlife.
Why take part?
- Showcase your group to thousands of visitors
- Share a cause or project you’re passionate about
- Inspire others to take action for nature
- Work together on a creative community challenge
- Take your wagon away afterwards as a lasting legacy planter or display
- Win a prize! Wild About visitors will vote for their favourite wagon – it could be yours.
We’ll provide:
- The wagon (feel free to paint and decorate however you like!)
- Top soil / compost.
- Information pack
