We are pleased to announce that car dealership Big Motoring World has kindly given a donation to Nene Park Trust, which will fund turning Poppy Meadow into a wildflower meadow, complete with a bee and butterfly bank.

For just over a year, Poppy Meadow (an area of grass next to Gunwade Lake in Ferry Meadows) has had a huge mound of earth covering it -  the earth left over from the creation of the new Lakeside car park. Over the last few months, we have been working on moving this mound of earth into the south east corner of Gunwade Lake to create a new reedbed habitat - an important habitat for fish, amphibians, birds and insects.

With the earth now moved into the lake, Poppy Meadow has now been left in need of some TLC. With Big Motoring World's donation, we are able to turn this piece of ground into a wildflower meadow with a bee and butterfly bank - a valuable new addition to the Park.

We are so thankful to Big Motoring World for choosing to support our work and to making a positive impact on the environment and the Peterborough Community, by funding this project.

Stuart, Senior Marketing Executive at Big Motoring World says, "It’s important that as a business we recognise the part we play in supporting the fight against climate change and, as we have a large footprint in the city with two dealerships and a preparation centre, we offset this as much as we can. Not just for the benefit of the planet but to support our local community. At Big Motoring World, we not only want to supply communities with transport, including an ever expanding range of electric vehicles, but play an active role in general wellbeing. Nene Park Trust and its tenants provide a host of activities and access to space to the people of Peterborough and we want to help them continue the work they do."

Big Motoring World will be documenting the development of this project and helping to shine a light on all the work we do. Keep your eye out on our social media channels for updates. Thank you Big Motoring World!
