Group of primary age school children on a visit to a country park

2025 – a record year for education sessions

13/01/26 – Alex Maskell, Education Officer

2025 was our busiest year yet with over 140 school groups coming to Nene Park, and over 4,500 learners attending Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning, Forest Schools, Holiday Club and Nature Tots sessions. Our Nature Tots and Home Educators have had the opportunity to explore the meadows and woods around Lynch Farm, and our Funded Farm visits have been a success over at the Rural Estate. We have also been able develop and test out two new sessions, including KS2 Outdoor Literacy day and KS3 Woodland Landscapes half day. A shout out has to go to both Ormiston Meadows and Queen Katherine’s Academy for helping to test out those sessions.

Looking into the New Year we already have school groups booking onto our Woodlands Landscape sessions, and many other sessions we provide. This year has been launched as the National Year of Reading to help boost children’s literacy. To help support this with an outdoors-based twist we are now able to book onto our Outdoor Literacy day covering text types, homophones and creative writing. For our Nature Tots sessions this year they are going to be themed around famous children’s stories, and we hoping to run other activities through the year relating to literacy.

If you are a school or parent and interested in booking your children onto one of our various activities, then please head to our Education pages to see the full range of what we can offer.

And finally we would like to thank all the schools, parents and learners that have joined and supported us over the last year, and we look forward to seeing those who are both new and old to Nene Park this year.
