Protecting and developing culture, arts and heritage is a core part of our strategy and we are committed to incorporating it into our parks through art installations, sculpture, interpretation and community cultural events and being a leader in the arts and cultural scene of the City.
Peterborough Sculpture Collection
Nene Park Trust looks after this exciting and significant Sculpture Collection on permanent public display across the City.
The collection is free to view and includes important artworks by artists including Antony Gormley, Anthony Caro and Sokari Douglas Camp. Whether you choose to take a tour around the Thorpe Meadows Sculpture Trail, encounter a bird sculpture or carved benches at Ferry Meadows, or glimpse Antony Gormley’s figures watching over Cathedral Square in Peterborough City Centre, we hope you discover an artwork that you enjoy or intrigues you! Hosting Community Cultural Events
Ferry Meadows is an inclusive space where we welcome different community groups to host their cultural celebrations and events. We have various rooms and venues to hire and invite groups to get in touch about holding events in our spaces.
Through the Your Community Greenspace project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (2019-2026) we have supported community groups to hold events such as the Hindu festival Durga Puja, the Muslim festival Eid, Ukrainian Independence Day and many other celebrations.
Peterborough Celebrates Festival
Now in its 5th year, this cultural and community festival is held at Ferry Meadows over a weekend in May and showcases the talent, creativity and diversity of our communties in Peterborough. The festival is free-to-attend for all and attracts thousands of visitors over the weekend coming to watch or take part in music, dance, poetry, traditional cultural performances, sport, art and crafts and more. Peterborough Presents
Peterborough Presents is a community-focused arts programme funded by Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme, hosted by Nene Park Trust and overseen by a team of partners including Nene Park Trust, Metal, Eastern Angles Theatre Company, Peterborough City Council, Creative Lives and Peterborough Council for Voluntary Services. Peterborough Cultural Alliance
This group of arts organisations, including Nene Park trust, has been set up to lead delivery of the Peterborough Cultural Strategy and represent culture in Peterborough. It is a Place Partnership programme supported by public funding through Arts Council England.
The Alliance helps creative culture grow by investing in people and places – working to enable diverse voices to be heard and supporting everyone to have the chance to take part in meaningful arts and heritage opportunities, working closely with partners to make sure fairness, inclusion and local relevance are at the heart of the city’s cultural future – so that each person and community, can see themselves in the story we are creating.
