Join in the October half term fun at Nene Park, with autumnal activities and events on every day from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October. There is something for all the family to enjoy, from our scarecrow and broomstick making activities to a special wildlife boat trip, climbing and archery sessions and the ever-popular holiday trail. As always, daily watersports activities will be running at Nene Outdoors, along with regular boat trips on Overton Lake.

Complete our Pumpkin Cyphers trail at Ferry Meadows: Scattered across Ferry Meadows you'll find posters showing different varieties of pumpkins (who knew there were so many?!) with their unique names written in a secret code. Pick up a key sheet from the Visitor Centre, Gift & Farm Shop for just £1 to help you break the code, return your answers to the Visitor Centre and claim your tulip bulbs prize to grow at home! We also have a easier picture hunt trail sheet for younger children to enjoy.

Get involved with Waste Awareness Week! We are welcoming Peterborough City Council's Recycling Education team to the Park to host some FREE, fun activities for all the family, from 10am to 12pm on Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th October at Lynch Lake Community Hub. Come along and get involved!

Take a boat trip: Take a relaxing trip around Overton Lake and onto the River Nene and enjoy unique views and spotting the wildlife around Ferry Meadows. Book your tickets now. 

Ride the Ferry Meadows Railway: Sit back and enjoy the ride! Trains will operate daily between 11am and 4.45pm, weather permitting.

Saturday 21st October - Make a Scarecrow! Our popular scarecrow making activity returns, with all materials provided for you to make a spectacular scarecrow to be displayed in the Park for the half term week. Park visitors will vote for their favourite, with a prize awarded to the scarecrow (makers) with the most votes! This event is suitable for all ages and costs £8 per scarecrow. Click here to book.

Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd October - Longthorpe Tower Tour: Discover the finest set of medieval wall paintings in a domestic setting in Western Europe, giving a rare insight into the medieval mind. Book your one-hour tour with our knowledgeable team of volunteers.

Sunday 22nd October - Durga Puja Festival: Join in or watch the festivities of this important Indian festival, involving the grand immersion procession of the Goddess Durga at Lynch Lake at 2.30pm and then enjoy festival craft making, piping hot Indian snacks, live music and Indian dancing. All welcome.

Monday 23rd October - Nature Tots & Wild Home Ed Groups: Join our monthly Nature Tots or Wild Home Educator groups for nature-themed fun in the Park.

Monday 23rd & Tuesday 24th October - Work Experience Taster: This FREE two day experience is for young people aged 14 to 17 years old, who enjoy being outdoors, would like to find out more about how Nene Park is run, and are interested in a career linked to the environment, tourism, events or parks and greenspace. Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th October - Family recycling workshops: The Education team from Peterborough City Council will be at the Lynch Lake Community Hub from 10am-12pm on these days running free, fun, drop-in activities for all the family to raise awareness of waste, recycling and how to look after your park. Monday 23rd October - Nene Nursery Sensory Trail: Come and explore the new Nene Nursery at this FREE drop-in sensory trail 10-11am in the Nene Nursery on Ham Lane, just before you enter the Park. All ages welcome - no need to book. 

Tuesday 24th October - Climbing Wall: The team from Nene Outdoors will be getting our climbing wall out today! Are you brave enough to reach the top? Click here to book a session.

Wednesday 25th October - Wildlife Boat Trip: Join us on a specially extended wildlife boat trip with an expert ranger, who will make sure you don’t miss a thing and help you learn more about the wildlife you observe. Suitable for children age 8 and over, please click here to book your tickets.

Thursday 26th October - Owls and their Pellets: Join our expert ranger and follow a trail to learn more about the fascinating world of owls and the amazing things you can find by dissecting their pellets! Suitable for children age 5 and over, please click here to book.

Thursday 26th October - Archery: Unleash your inner Robin Hood or Maid Marian! Our archery sessions are 45 minutes long and take place at Nene Outdoors. Click here to book.

Saturday 28th October - Indian Block Printing Workshop: Something for the grown ups! Work with local multi-media artist Melanie Missin-Keating on this half day workshop and learn a new skill. Indian Block Printing creates fabulous results and can be used on fabrics, papers, clothes and much more. Click here to book.
