What’s changing?

In the week of 1 October 2018, a new car park charging system will be installed at Orton Meadows.

The system is ticketed and our visitors will now use barriers on entry and exit to the car park.

Note that there will be no changes to parking charges.

Why are you making this change?

Over the past few months we have been reviewing our existing system, in line with visitor feedback. Our visitors are very much our priority at Nene Park so we have chosen to implement a completely new system to ensure a positive experience for our visitors when parking in Orton Meadows.

Since the current system was implemented in 2016 there have also been further improvements in technology and our new system will take advantage of these.

How will it work?

As you enter Orton Meadows, drive up to the entry barriers and you will be issued with a ticket. The barrier will then rise. When you’re ready to leave, enter your ticket and pay the appropriate charge at the pay stations (as is the case currently). For customers of The Granary, Rutland Cycling or Orton Meadows Golf and Pitch & Putt, FREE parking is still in place provided you present your parking ticket in store before you leave.

Once you approach the exit barrier, enter your ticket and it will rise automatically provided you have paid the correct tariff.

What are the car parking charges?

Up to 1 hour        FREE

1 to 2 hours         £2.50

Over 2 hours       £5.00

Free parking for customers of The Granary, Rutland Cycling and Orton Meadows Golf and Pitch & Putt, when customers present their ticket at these businesses.

How do I pay?

All you have to do is visit one of the pay stations and enter your ticket for payment, as is the case now. The cost will be displayed. Use contactless payment, credit/debit card or cash (change will now be provided) to pay.

If you have had your ticket validated at The Granary, Rutland Cycling or Orton Meadows Golf and Pitch & Putt, there is no need to visit a pay machine.

Where are the pay stations?

All pay stations are in exactly the same locations as before. Where there are two pay stations located together, one will offer card only payments whilst the other will offer cash (change given) as well. To save time on queuing, it is also possible to pay on the Indigo App whilst in the Park.

What happens if there’s a problem with the machine or I can’t get out of the car park?

There is a 24 hour intercom button on the pay machines and at the exit barriers, which you can call for assistance.

What do I do if I’m just dropping someone off?

As with the current system, if you enter the car park and leave within 1 hour, there’s no charge.

Who’s providing the new system and how do you know they offer a good service?

The new system is provided by Indigo, a member of the British Parking Association which operates in other locations including Xscape in Milton Keynes and the Lister and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals. The system uses equipment by Scheidt and Bachmann, widely considered to be among the best on the market.

What about Ferry Meadows and Thorpe Meadows?

At Thorpe Meadows, as of July 2018 we now have a payment system in place using a new solar-powered pay and display solution using solar powered payment machines. Parking for the first hour will be free, with a charge of £2.50 applying for stays of between 1 hour and 24 hours. We are also installing a ticketless barrier solution at Ferry Meadows in the week of September 24th 2018.
