Purple Tuesday, the international call-to-action campaign focused on changing the customer experience for disabled people, is taking place on Tuesday 12 November 2019. We at Nene Park Trust are committed to participating in and promoting this campaign.

Background to Purple Tuesday
Purple Tuesday has been developed by disability organisation Purple, which works with businesses to improve the customer experience for disabled people. Last year, the first ever Purple Tuesday was a huge success - with over 1,500 pledges from organisations of all sizes to make concrete changes and improve the customer experience for disabled people. These included commitments such as: staff training, digital audits, better signage and training of frontline staff in basic British sign language. Purple Tuesday gathered support from over 750 businesses.

Nene Park Trust's involvement
We have chosen to participate in Purple Tuesday this year, as we want to raise awareness of what we are already doing in the Park for our disabled visitors and pledge our commitment to changing and developing that experience further for the better.

Our pledges:

Staff and volunteer training
On Tuesday 12 November we are holding Dementia Friends Information sessions for our staff and volunteers, delivered by the Alzheimer's Society, to help our team learn more about the condition. For more information about Dementia Friends please visit www.dementiafriends.org.uk

Holding our Access Forum
We are also holding our bi-annual Access Forum on the same day to help raise awareness for the campaign. The Nene Park Access Forum is a group of individuals and organisations who are interested in helping to make Nene Park as accessible to all as possible. Participants share experiences, ideas, updates, and issues with regards to disability access at the Park. It is open to any organisations and individuals with an interest in disability access.

If you are interested in finding out more about joining our Access Forum, please contact visitor.services@neneparktrust.org.uk
