We are pleased and excited to announce our new 42WORDS project, supported using public funding from the Art Council’s Emergency Fund which is helping to maintain our Art in the Park Programme and support local creatives during the Covid-19 crisis.

The Park has been providing a space for wellbeing, reflection, leisure and culture for the residents of Peterborough for 42 years this year, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is a significant moment in the Park’s existence, particularly when Parks and greenspaces have supported our health and wellbeing and the epidemic will have a lasting impact on the Park and the wider community.

42WORDS will see 10 local artists create 42 artworks in a variety of artforms, their response to ideas of wellbeing, nature, overcoming isolation, grief and remembrance and re-building community, via a series of 42 words nominated by staff, volunteers, artist and the public.

The artworks will be installed in the Park as banners and posters, published online and distributed to the community via press, social media and accessible venues.

Keep an eye out for the artworks which will begin appearing in July, we would love to hear what you think and see any photographs you share!

We invite you to take part…

Follow the link below to give your thoughts through single words reflecting on your wellbeing, nature and wildlife, Parks & greenspaces, friends and family, isolation, community or grief and remembrance.

These words will be collected and assigned to the artists to respond to – we would love you to get involved, encourage others to take part and enjoy the artworks as they appear in the Park!
